2025 Christmas Poem

(written on New Year’s Eve)

Yet

I have not written it yet.

Put forth the words of a year,

Recalled the months in rear.

Printed out those memories dear.

Yet, I’ve done everything else expected of me.

Cards, gifts, décor and tree;

Gatherings, texting, and a wrapping spree.

Decided to host an afternoon tea.

I’ve eluded the poem, not feeling the vibe yet.

No wanting to dwell

For my eyes to swell

As I painfully retell.

I’ve not written it yet—

Because God had me wait

Until He spoke His Words of love over hate

Renewed that hope in a plan that is great.

~~~
Parents killing children, children murdering parents.
Floods swept up campers, and planes hit the ground,
Evil aiming guns and truth and innocence shot down.
Fires burned up whole towns.
Infection settled in and gave us a scare. That One Word from the Psalm chapters gave rest.
My beloved lay silent but the machines--they drum,
Beeping and pumping, a constant hum,
“Where does my help come from?”
That rhetorical question asked in every scenario. Do you remember? Do you know?
“The Lord, the Maker of Heaven and earth.”
He answers and asks us to recall His birth
The Babe, the Man, the God who gave us worth.
“I have told you things in my Word for your peace.”
In this world there is trouble, depravity and hate
But Love is the answer to make our path straight.
Christ overcame sin and all its weight.
God answered prayer this year in grace and provision.
For what I care for, those close and adored,
In abundance and wisdom, a hope restored.
Sons and daughters will come back to You Lord.
Yet still, a great desire for the all to be calm. He’s not finished…yet.
God incarnate, a personal relationship.
The promised Messiah, victory over a death grip
Resurrected, forgiven, joy and grace in the hardship.
Just believe and ask Him to show You His truth.
Admit you’re in need; let go your own depravity and fears
God makes a way and holds all your tears.
Be born-again for eternity’s years.
That baby, Christmas, a choice made every day.
To live surrendered yet held captive in wonder,
To worship with His church in splendor,
To know I am loved by God, the Creator.
Good-bye to a year of trials and perseverance, miracles and growth; the known and unknown.
Yet I welcome the God who pursues.
And pray for His Will and a better attitude.
To hope, rejoice and reflect godly gratitude.
Yet, He waits.
Christmas 2023 Poem
The Divine Waltz
Wrought with pain, weary from thoughts
This whirlwind of days wrings me tight to drip
The tears of this divine destiny,
Of the weight carried--
All for Your Glorious Will.
I wish upon the stars
And wonder at the Heavens.
The world closes in;
I wrestle. You wrangle.
The Way is made.
When I consider the Heavens...
Lord, I hear your quiet whisper
Above my humble, heartbroken whimpers.
“Trust me,” even in this wreckage.
Grace-wrapping words for the wounds,
Will-submitting words to You, Father--
That will wage war with every soul.
Praying at the wake of dawn--
Weaving more threads into this story.
The waiting is real.
Waves wash over me.
Worthy—Worthy, the Lamb of God.
The watchful gather from the hills
The wise come to adore
You are named, Wonderful, Counselor,
Prince of Peace, Waymaker…
Together we warm-up
While the wicked conjure.
Who You are?  The Son of God--
 Messiah; what promise fulfilled!
Love unexplainable yet attainable
Wipes my slate clean.
Where? In my life, my heart.
My unworthiness made whole.
In the wear and tear of the waiting--
Walk with me Lord;
Ward off my will.
Wholeheartedly, I worship You
For whosoever believes,
Surrenders to the wooden Cross--
You Welcome Home, an eternal reward.
Double You.
Emmanuel, God With Us.
And in that, Peace wedges in.
Hope winds tight around me.
Love strengthens my weakness
And the dance with the Divine is
A Waltz of Grace.
Good God Day
Evil slithers in for a dip in Paradise.
Toxic warning. The deep end is cordoned off,
But Adam-man toe-tapped into the slime pool of “What-ifs,” of don’t-you-want-tos.”
Free will gave him choice
--and he chose.
Entertaining the enemy,
They coil together to reproduce.
Dry and parched,
The world chokes for the Breath of God.
God breathes
And she received.
For in this Promise,
Hope resuscitates.
Living water pours out through and aqueduct of Grace.
Evil taunts the GodMan.
Walking the wilderness of temptation,
Maneuvering, offering up…
The Flesh resists.
Evil, on its belly, infiltrates the followers,
Kisses His cheek.
The noose strangles.
Sin sways in its own weight.
Betrayal serves Him up.
In fear they scatter.
Thrice denied, the bird calls in harmony with the devil.
“Another Way?”
“I AM the Way.”
The world sleeps.
“They say you are a king?”
“Who are you?”
“The son of God?  Blasphemer!”
“Give us Barabbas!”
“Crucify Him!”
Evil smirks in presumptive victory,
Sliding through the thorns,
The slurs and mocking,
Disguised as a cat-o-nine-tails.
Tearing.
Shredding.
Dragging the splintered Cross,
It divots the earth,
Marking only one path to follow up a hill,
Planted between two choices,
I believe. I do not.
All have sinned. All are separated.
Greatest Love bridges troubled waters of the soul.
He bled out to take us all in.
It is done.
Forgive them Father.
The earth sighs and trembles.
The veil splits and the Holy becomes ours,
Accessible again.
The sun eclipses on a Good God Day,
A day when all will be made right,
When Truth victoriously rises, defeating death.
Giving life eternal.
A mother weeps for her Son,
A Son fulfills Prophesy promises,
Prepares his generals for the battle.
And the Father…
God holds His breath
To breathe life anew,
Into us,
Into you.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, will not perish, but have everlasting life.
